Contemporary art raises questions, often challenging its viewers. Our events and education programs offer our audiences a range of opportunities for engaging with the artworks and artists presented in our exhibitions. Through tours, artist talks, workshops, and partnerships with local schools the Kunstverein is committed to facilitating encounters with contemporary art and encouraging visual literacy. We welcome you to join us in the lively dialogue of contemporary art!

Initiated in 2008, the KUNSTTRANSFER program of the Kunstverein Göttingen is specifically geared towards schools, daycare centers and teachers. The focus is on the lively mediation of the artistic themes and techniques presented in our exhibition to groups from institutions, offering children and youth a means of developing a sense for the experience and vocabulary of contemporary art.
Emphasis is placed on non-traditional forms of art education. Long-term partnerships with education centers allow us to develop thematically based, year-long projects with daycares and schools. Artist workshops are offered for a range of age groups and institutions, and projects are developed with regionally based social institutions.
Multi-media, so-called “cross-media" projects, such as the partner project "Farbtöne" with the [Stadtradio Göttingen]( [LINK], encourage children to themselves engage in the making and mediation of contemporary art. KUNSTTRANSFER also offers seminars for educators and laypeople, who are interested in developing new tools for exhibition-based art education. Finally, the projects and activities of KUNSTTRANSFER are brought together every year in an annual exhibition, the “Aktionsausstellung” which allows participants in the art education program to present an exhibition.
